Disposable vapes banned in UK

Disposable vapes are set to be banned as part of plans to tackle the rising number of young people taking up vaping, the government says.

Five million disposable vapes are discarded weekly, equal to eight per second. In light of the link between disposable vapes and underage use, and with readily available reusable alternatives for smoking cessation, WRAP strongly backs the call for a ban. Let's prioritize a healthier, sustainable future

The materials used in disposable vapes make them a potential hazard to humans, wildlife and the environment when they’re thrown away. Lithium batteries are highly flammable and have been causing dangerous fires in bin lorries and waste processing centres.

Then there’s the pollution from disposable vapes. If they’re littered or in landfill, there’s a risk of harmful chemicals like battery acid, lithium and nicotine leaking into the environment.

We at Lithium Battery Recycling Solutions welcome the ban on disposable vapes in the UK, they have massive ecological impacts on our planet and change is needed to support a sustainable future.
