Complete Auto Recycling Show and Metals Recycling Event 2023
The biannual Complete Auto Recycling Show (CARS) and Metals Recovery Expo (MRE) are one of the highlights of the auto industry calendar, specifically dealing with the recycling of cars. The show attracts anyone involved in End of Life Vehicle (ELV) activities, and this year was no different. Lithium Battery Recycling Solutions has supported the show for the past 3 shows over the past 6 years with keynote talks and stands to demonstrate the latest techniques in lithium battery recycling.
This year we exhibited some of the ADR-approved transportation crates needed to ship lithium batteries, but we also showed for the first time our mechanical separation plant, which transforms batteries into a collection of metallic-based flakes for onward material recovery. We had samples of the process on hand to show the different stages and a video of the shredder in action.
The stand attracted a lot of attention as not much is known about lithium battery recycling, and Alan Colledge, Technical Director, and Jerry Boyce, Business Development Manager, were on hand to answer questions and make contact with industry leads.
Alan commented that “the show this year saw a sea change in attendance, and there was a lot more interest in the life cycle of the batteries. There were also a lot of companies that came to the stand explaining they are storing batteries and waiting to deal with them.”
The next show is scheduled for June 2025, and Lithium Battery Recycling Solutions has already booked to be there. “The ELV sector is one we are very keen to work with and will progressively see the most batteries to deal with.” said Jerry.
